Is blogging dead?
I keep reading that people aren't blogging like they used to, that Facebook has taken the place of blogging, that people are sick of reading bloggers' self-centered egocentric slop. Is it true? Is blogging dead? I know I haven't kept up with mine like I intend, but I still read others' blogs regularly (though I don't comment as much as I used to). I do notice that some people I read aren't posting as often, and many aren't posting at all.
Thoughts?

Well, I have a Lj rather than a blog and I post just about every day in there. But I've also had it for over 5 years!
~When I am die I want it to be a chronicle of my life, so I intend on getting a "permanent" account at some point, but that costs a bit, so I've been putting that part off! (*But I Don't Intend On Dying For A Long Long Long LONG... Long time!*)
~I think blogging "the fad" may finally be over, but I think the true bloggers/lj-ers are probably going to be sticking around.
~BTW~ It's Courtney, aka CJ
i disagree...
I think that, when you factor in the stresses of the economy and election- as well as the tired situations of the war, holidays and other taxing and weighty issues- it's pretty normal that it would slow. What isn't recessed right now?
I must say I agree with Misty on this one. I blog less now just out of being bogged down with all of the hub-bub but I am anticipating a time when I will have more time to blog and more want to as well.
I also read regularly quite a few blogs and I enjoy it!!
I still blog - I just took a 3 week breather over the holiday season, lol! I left a message in my yoga/bird/Buddhism blogs to let regular readers know that i would be absent for a time, but back soon....
I should be starting up again next week. Maybe the holiday season affects us all - we all need time out. I agree though that facebook can be time consuming - there are such fun word games & apps over there!!!
I guess it depends on if blogs are self-related or topic related. that might have some input.
nah, it's not dead. at least, i don't think it is. i haven't been blogging a lot lately for several different reasons, but i have every intention of picking it back up soon.
Information overload, people can't keep up with them all so less and less people care about them. So not dead but in critical care with an uncertain fate.
